I didn’t intend to write a review of the house we rented for our holidays in Clifden, but it impressed us so much I really wanted to share.
Canon’s Lane is a small crescent development overlooking a small green, a 5 minute walk from the centre of Clifden. The house itself, Number 9, is a semi-detached house with a large paved back garden with beautiful raised beds. We brought scooters and the kids spent hours outside.
The decor of the house was just beautiful, original art on the walls and personal touches everywhere. The IKEA (I checked) mattress toppers gave such a comfortable night’s sleep and the beds are all zip and link so you can change the configurations between the three double rooms and make them doubles or twins.
What really struck us though was well stocked the house was. We’ve self catered many times before and had 6 bowls, 6 spoons and one sharp knife. The opposite was true here, there were plates, dishes, cutlery (more than we have at home), glassware, saucepans, baking trays, everything you could possibly need and more. And just as your inner foodie is celebrating the supplies you realise that the cupboards contain all your “storecupboard” essentials- dried herbs and spices, breadsoda, cornflour, vinegar, oil. The stuff that you take for granted at home. It’s a brilliant house for entertaining too with a huge round table in the kitchen that would comfortably seat 8 I think.
Here’s a little slideshow of the house, to give you a full impression.
The only drawback for travelling with families was that the owner doesn’t have a travel cot or highchair, but we brought our own cot and made do with a “totseat”.
Practical bits: there are three bathrooms, two with shower, and three bedrooms with room to sleep 6. The Sitting room is very big and has TV with saorview. There are dozens of books, CDs and boardgames. The patio has a barbecue and garden furniture with 4 chairs.
Please note: I was not asked to do a review of this property and was not paid to do so. We paid for our holiday and we booked through Connemara Lettings.
